 Torremolinos in the International Scene

FOR the family involved, it was a breathtaking moment and simply a relief after. But for others around the world detached from the unfolding drama, it was one indication that globalization indeed saves lives. There was one woman in Birmingham who dialed Britain’s national emergency number 999. The woman in Birmingham has a brother who is in a serious medical predicament in Torremolinos, Spain. It was the unsung heroes of the 999 medical team which instructed the hotel staff in Torremolinos via phone on how to give the patient emergency medical care and ultimately turn him over to the nearest adequate medical facility.

Another emerging trend in Torremolinos nowadays is the people there being environment-friendly. People in Torremolinos are now following the footsteps of Nobel Peace Prize winner and former United States Vice President Al Gore in the campaign to save the earth. For example, the constituents in Torremolinos are now demanding to have waste olive cooking oil containers to be erected outside their residences. They are also welcome to the possibility of raising the monthly garbage collection tax so garbage could be collected from each door by the garbage truck twice a day already instead of the usual once only. Another emerging good news is that it’s not just the local government of Torremolinos which is helping in this undertaking but also several non-government organizations that will be assisting in the garbage collection methods. Pretty soon, large companies in Spain will follow the same thing.

While vacationing here in Spain, why not drop by here in Torremolinos? It may be the cleanest Mediterranean city in Spain. There are lots of car rentals that you can choose from here if you are a foreign tourist. You may opt for the sedan or the SUV. Bragging an SUV along may more likely turn off the locals because it consumes much gas so renting an off-road vehicle is way cooler because you can navigate your way even to inland and upland areas where dirt roads abound. But never ever park your rented off-road vehicle at the beaches of Playa de Bajondillo so you won’t get rebuked by the beach management. When it’s raining in Torremolinos and the mud gets stuck in your car, the folks at the beaches do not want the mud to transfer to their beaches where there are lots of German tourists tanning themselves once the sun is out. If you are staying at a vacation villa here in Torremolinos, you better take a walk at the local fishing village of El Bajondillo. If you are courteous and cordial enough and if you certainly know some Spanish and engage in conversation with a local fisherman, then he may be grateful enough to give you a grouper. Or you may be invited for a dinner with the fisherman’s family which turns to be more awesome indeed as you will be dining not only with the grouper but also with various seafood that the fisherman will cook using olive oil of course which is the healthiest cooking oil in the world because of its very low fat content.
